The prison’s location in Central City creates a Muhlenberg County connection, but its sentenced population remains in the statewide corrections system. County jail bond procedures, the Bluhorse roster, and county release sheets do not govern a Green River state-prison discharge.
Green River Correctional Complex Release Dates
A state projected date is an estimate based on the sentence, prior-confinement credit, statutory credits, forfeitures, eligibility rules, and later custody events. It is not the same as parole eligibility, a Board grant, physical departure, or final discharge. KRS 197.045 governs categories and limits of sentence credits, including good behavior, meritorious service, educational accomplishment, and prior confinement where applicable.
KRS 439.3401 imposes special rules for qualifying violent offenders and generally requires the covered prisoner to serve at least 85 percent before parole release. It does not apply to every Green River prisoner. Offense type, date, sentence structure, statutory exceptions, disciplinary forfeiture, amended judgments, detainers, and new sentences can all change the path.
KRS 439.3406 creates mandatory reentry supervision for eligible prisoners six months before projected sentence completion when discretionary parole has not occurred, subject to exceptions. A person can thus leave the institution while the sentence continues under supervision. Time spent absconding does not earn credit under that framework.

Kentucky VINE can send notice of state-system status changes. Search the person, select the correct DOC record, and register through the methods offered. State-institution release notice may arrive up to 72 hours in advance when possible, while immediate court action, parole, credits, or escape may be reported only when the event occurs.
An alert is not a certified Green River release. Kentucky DOC documented a vendor incident that sent incorrect state-custody release notices. Compare any message with KOOL and the institution or DOC record. If the new status is transfer, the person remains in custody.

Green River Release Follow-Through
After the displayed date passes, check KOOL again. A new institution means transfer. Community supervision calls for the listed or applicable Probation and Parole office. A released or discharged label should be copied exactly and backed by a DOC record when formal proof is needed.
A detainer, recalculation, disciplinary action, amended judgment, parole change, or new sentence can alter the expected course. Court records show the original judgment and later orders, but Kentucky AOC cautions that original sentence data do not establish actual completion. DOC maintains that completion information.
